Get to know Dina B!

Here's a little background info...I was born in North Miami Beach, Fl. and was raised in Pembroke Pines by my Italian New Yorker parents with my one older sister named Kristina.  I learned to sing, dance, walk in my mother's high heels and apply lipstick with no mirror by the age of three!  In my house Food, Religion and Boxing were held top priorities.  My father was and still is a Professional Boxing Trainer, so as a family we watched matches on TV together, traveled and attended live shows frequently.  My first live match was in Atlantic City and I was two; I remember 2 things the Limo Ride with free Coke and Doritos and the Bright Lights / Cameras.

I went to Catholic School from K - 12th grade, in Hollywood, Fl.  Since I was four I started dancing and performing, the spot light never intimidated me.  I loved sports and played Softball at an optimist park from the time I was 7- 15 years old; I began All Star Ball and started traveling over the summer as well.  This was were I first fell in love with Country Music.  You see my parents were into Motown,Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Carol King, Frankie Valli, Four Tops, Blood Sweat and Tears and 60s rock...Country Music was never on in my house.  However, when I traveled with other softball moms all we would listen to was Country.  So, from then on I was hooked.

By the time high school rolled around I was attending Country Concerts.  I was Captain of my dance team, I cheered and attended Religious retreats where I was also a youth group leader for my school and Church.  I then went onto FAU in Boca and that was when the concert going increased.   I was line dancing and partying at country bars all the way through my college graduation!  I still never thought of a career in it, though.  I knew from the get go, what my major should be.  I chose Communications with a Minor in Sociology hoping to be a sports reporter, and eventually become the first female boxing commentator!  Funny how you think you know what you want!!!

Exactly one month after my college graduation I landed a job as an on-air traffic reporter for local TV Stations and Radio Stations in the Miami and W.P.B. Markets.  I thought this would be "my in" as a sports reporter!  As I started bantering more on the radio stations, I realized I liked the fact that no one sees me and I get to use my personality rather than read off stats and scores.  It was at that moment I discovered what I really wanted to be when I grew up...A RADIO PERSONALITY!!!

So, after being a traffic reporter for a year and then working for CBS Radio for another two and half I took whatever I could get to be on-air.  I worked weekends and fill-in shifts...Hoping and Praying someone needed off or was sick!  :)  And then it happened there was finally an opening and my number was called!

I typically can and will talk to anyone.  I am often sarcastic, but I can give it right back too.  I am Italian so of course I can get a little testy and I am known to be a bit tough at times, but it never killed anyone right?  My role models are my parents.  My mother was the strongest, smartest, most beautiful woman I have ever known.  She passed away a couple of years ago after battling cancer for 6 years.  In my opinion there was nothing she couldn't do or do wonderfully; except pump gas she refused to pump her own gas and iron!!!

Some of my favorites include...Shopping, I have a bit of problem when it comes to Purses and Shoes, Traveling, Going to Concerts, Broadway Plays and Sporting Events.  I love to eat, anything Italian of course, Chicken Wings, Ice Cream, Sushi, Chinese Food, I could go on for hours on this topic, so you get it.  Cooking and decorating for the Holidays are the best and I enjoy going above and beyond.  Since my sister and I were kids we would always bring home the biggest Christmas tree and then my mom, sis and I would laugh and watch my father struggle and curse trying to get it in the house / stand!!!   I love to dance / sing and I do enjoy a lot of different types of music thanks to my parents, but my favorite all time country songs are Patty Loveless' "Blame It On Your Heart", Brad Paisleys' "Wrapped Around" Alabama's "Dixieland Delight", Brooks and Dunn's "Brand New Man", Tim McGraw's "Please Remember Me", Kenny Chesney's "Big Star", Lee Ann Womack's "I May Hate Myself In The Morning" and of course my man George Strait's "Leave You With A Smile".  My favorite color is Kelly Green.  I enjoy working out and I am a certified aerobics instructor, though I don't use my certification at any gyms as of yet...I also enjoy working on the tan.  My favorite TV shows are Sex and the City, King of Queens, Without a Trace, General Hospital, Everyone Loves Raymond and Supermarket Sweeps.  A few of my favorite movies include When Harry Met Sally, The Godfather Part II, Grease, My Cousin Vinny, Staying Alive, Midnight Run, Lethal Weapon, What About Bob and The Great Outdoors.  But one simple treat that always brings a smile to my face is a cold can of cherry coke or a frozen coke!!!  Yes, I admit I am a little corny!!!

Well that's me in a nut shell.  I love my job and I have been paying my dues and waiting for a position like this to come along for a while.  So, I hope you tune in when you can!  Drop me an email anytime and if you get the chance stop by when I am out on location; I'd love to meet you!!!

Thanks for listening and for taking the time to get to know me a little better!
