Holiday Festival Unites Charities

Saturday, November 30th, from 10 AM to 2 PM Saint Lucie Lanes proudly presents it's 1st Annual Holiday Extravaganza Yard Sale & Car Show, FREE TO THE PUBLIC.

Saint Lucie County charities will unite on this day and work together to keep the magic in Christmas. This all day event celebrates the Holiday Season and provides entertainment, food, fun and education for our community. On hand will be the St. Lucie County Council on Aging; Save the Chimps; Toys for Tots; and Boy and Cub Scout Troops. There will be interactive exhibits, raffles, door prizes and some mighty fine automobiles to admire. There is discounted bowling inside along with plenty of food and drink. All proceeds benefit the charity of your choice.

DJ Dave Oagles, provides music and dancing. Staff Sergeant Wells of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program will be making an appearance and singing the Toys for Tots theme song at noon. The Centennial High School ROTC color guard will be performing a call to the colors immediately following Sgt. Wells.

Local vendors will be on hand with booths displaying their goods and services.

There will be bargains galore, for sure, but more importantly, we will have the spirit of the holiday to share will everyone.

At our Classic Car Show you will amaze yourself at examples of motor and steel perfection. No worries, THE FESTIVAL IS FREE TO THE PUBLIC. Car Show participants are being asked to voluntarily donate an unwrapped toy for the Marine Corps Toy Drive for the privilege of bragging rights!

21st Annual Holiday Wonderland 

on Saturday, November 26th. The Holiday Season would not be complete without a visit to Hoffman’s Chocolate to tour the magical display of thousands of lights in our beautiful gardens and visit our festively decorated Factory Shoppe & Ice Cream Parlour in Greenacres, Florida. 

Walk along the easily accessible paths and you’ll see what sets this holiday display apart from others. It’s the wrapped trees and shrubs, beautifully lighted gazebo, cascading fountains, live fish, electric trains and animated displays including a life size manger scene. 

The Wonderland will be open daily 
November 26
th through December 30th from 6 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. 
Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. through December 23rd. 

Hoffman’s is also collecting new unwrapped toys for underprivileged children in our community at all Hoffman locations as well as canned goods for the Daily Bread Food Bank. The Daily Bread Food Bank provides food to approximately 800 agencies in South Florida (day care centers, soup kitchens & shelters, youth programs, food pantries, assisted living facilities, and rehab centers) and supplied over 29 million pounds last year! 

Paul Hoffman began this Hoffman tradition when the National Enquirer in Lantana decided to discontinue their Holiday display. Hoffman’s Holiday Wonderland remains the only community display available to the public FREE OF CHARGE.

Norton celebrates the holiday season with its annual Holiday Family Festival

Enjoy art, dance, music, magic, and more!

Once again, the Norton Museum of Art’s annual, entertainment-filled Holiday Family Festival offers families a joyous way to kick off the winter season. Set for Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, the Festival features music and dance performances, a magic troupe, art activities and tours, treasure hunts, storytelling, and more. Regular Museum admission applies.  The merriment occurs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., but the Museum café, Fratelli Lyon, will be serving a holiday brunch beginning at 11 a.m.

“Each year, the Holiday Family Festival presents terrific performers from our area,” says Glenn Tomlinson, the Norton’s William Randolph HearstCurator of Education. “Visitors are thrilled by the quality of the musicians and dancers, and they love the activities and family tours that take place throughout the Museum.”

Visitors are sure to be uplifted by the graceful dancers of the Palm Beach Atlantic Dance Ensemble and the sounds of Women of Note. The House of Flying Cards is also set to thrill with its bag of tricks and illusion. Storyteller Monica Ladd will share exciting tales, and the St. Edwards Children’s Choir and Maltz Jupiter Theatre Youth Touring Company will sing holiday classics. Complimentary refreshments come courtesy of Whole Foods Market. And the Museum Store is offering Norton Members a 20-percent discount and free gift wrapping.

The Friends of MacArthur Beach State Park will host its 2nd Annual Shop ‘Til You Drop event on Saturday December 14, 2013 from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM.  All monies raised will benefit the Natural Science Education Fund which provides free, hands on science field experiences for Palm Beach County students. 

This year the event will be held at the newly renovated Club at Admiral’s Cove. Vendors from all over the county will be there so that guests may shop top fashion, accessory and home décor.  Also included in the $75.00 admission price is a lovely buffet lunch.  Tickets may be purchased at http://www.macarthurbeach.org.

“We are so excited about the quality and the variety of our vendors this year” says Marianne Gold, event Co-Chair.   “There will be unique gifts for everyone on your list; from adorable baby gifts to one-of-a-kind accessories.  We look forward to another successful event and raising money for such a great cause,” she adds. 

Friends of MacArthur Beach State Park in a non-profit corporation with a mission of generating supplemental resources to preserve restore and interpret the natural and cultural assets of the Park for present and future generations.  “The Friends” are currently conducting a Give the Gift of Nature campaign for long term support of the Director of Education, enhanced quality and curriculum development.  The Board of Directors will match contributions of $5000 and above up to $200,000. 

John D. MacArthur Beach State Park, Palm Beach County’s only state park, is situated on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Lake Worth Lagoon.  The Park is made up of 438 acres of pristine coastal land and contains four different communities or habitats including seven species of plants and twenty-two species of animals on the endangered or threatened list.  MacArthur Beach is truly an “Island in Time.”
